Calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse and Radiesse+, Merz North America, Inc., Raleigh, NC, USA) is a synthetic filler approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds, the restoration and correction of signs of facial lipoatrophy in patients with human immunodeficiency virus, and the correction of volume loss in the dorsum of the hands. Its biocompatibility, safety, efficacy, and durability make it an excellent soft-tissue filler for use in multiple areas of the face, as well as the neck, hands, and other areas of the body.
